Bea has been instrumental in helping Compass Rose grow into a preeminent public affairs firm and has spent the past eight years working with clients from across the country in all sectors to find the common good.

A seasoned strategic communications leader with a relentless passion for storytelling, Bea has consistently delivered results for clients by combining strategic vision with hands-on execution as a public affairs counsellor. With more than a decade of experience covering politics and public policy as an award-winning former journalist, she has an ability to turn complex issues into easy-to-understand narratives.

She has demonstrated forward-thinking approaches to position clients to win. Her excellent ability to craft and execute strategic plans has not only helped clients achieve their immediate goals and objectives but has also helped set the stage for long-term success.

Bea thrives on challenges. From spearheading large market research projects for national business associations, raising clients' thought leadership profiles in the creative and agricultural industries, standing up secretariats for diverse coalitions and optimizing operational processes, or project managing advocacy and social media campaigns, Bea is dedicated to achieving measurable outcomes.

Prior to joining Compass Rose, Bea covered politics and public policy as a parliamentary journalist for The Hill Times. She also served as The Hill Times' online editor and the editor of Power & Influence magazine, where she was responsible for digital growth.

Bea holds a Bachelor of Arts in political science with a concentration in international relations and a Master of Journalism from Carleton University. She’s also a graduate of the University of King’s College’s Bachelor of Journalism program.

Bea currently sits on the board of directors of World Press Freedom Canada and is the communications chair for Famous 5 Ottawa. She is a sabbatical expert who loves traveling. In her spare time, she also enjoys learning about wine, trying new cheeses and getting lost in a good book.
