Julia Mills
Public Affairs Counsellor
Julia is a communications professional who deeply understands the intersection of public affairs and public policy and how they align for the common good.
With a near decade of experience managing national public affairs campaigns in the technology, agriculture, health and pharmaceuticals, aerospace, and not-for-profit sectors, Julia brings a passion for helping clients navigate the #cdnpoli landscape. She knows well how governments can use technology to support its citizens and deliver services in ways that matter.
As the senior government relations and communications manager for the Canadian headquarters of a multinational tech company, Julia helped teams understand the public sector markets and align to government agendas while supporting their executive team in building profile and presence in the space. Prior to this, she spent time at a global communications and government relations agency where she took on new challenges, managed diverse teams and helped develop and implement regional and national public affairs and communications campaigns for some of the most recognized companies looking to align with Canada’s public sector institutions.
Detailed oriented and organized, Julia also has experience handling crisis and risk files, developing earned and paid media strategies including social media, media relations, supporting clients on procurement opportunities and planning events big and small.
Born in Ottawa, Julia is community-oriented and enjoys giving back as a volunteer for local causes, youth programs and mental health.
Julia holds a Bachelor of Arts with a major in communications studies from Carleton University. She is a crime documentary junkie, loves the outdoors and enjoys hiking with her husband and golden retriever in her spare time.
