Louise Girouard

Public Affairs Counsellor

Louise brings an extensive background in high-level policy, strategic decision-making and communications on trade, natural resources, innovation and other files of crucial importance to Canada’s economic strength and prosperity.

She spent many years in senior government positions in Ottawa but is now based in Vancouver, adding another dimension to Compass Rose’s bilingual team and the national and regional perspectives we believe are crucial to our vision and effectiveness.

Louise draws on over twenty years of experience in government in the areas of strategic and crisis communications, media relations, stakeholder engagement and program development.

Most recently the Regional Director of communications at Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) in British Columbia, she has during her career provided policy and public relations advice to cabinet ministers in the energy and trade portfolios and to senior officials at Natural Resources Canada, International Trade and DFO.

In a testimony to Louise’s integrity, contagious warmth and ability to build strong working relationships, she has engaged with decision-makers across the political spectrum, exemplifying the commitment to neutral, nonpartisan solutions for the common good that Compass Rose values so highly.

Louise provides in-depth expertise and a valued understanding of national and regional issues for both communications and government relations projects.

When not in the office you can find her either on the golf course, sailing, supporting her oldest son Francis on-stage at local music venues or at the hockey rink cheering on her son David, who plays college hockey for Minnesota State University.
