Compass Rose opens office at One York, launches new brand
Public affairs counsellors join the core team
OTTAWA— Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson, business leaders and Ottawa decision-makers join Compass Rose at a launch marking the government relations and public affairs firm’s expansion and new location at One York in Ottawa overlooking Parliament Hill.
Compass Rose also launched a new visual identity anchored on the firm’s core goal: “Find the common good.” The new logo symbolizes how the firm works to expand the horizon to help clients find the common good in an effort to bring governments and organizations together.
“Compass Rose is committed to helping companies and organizations collaborate to find the solutions that meet their needs and the needs of Canadians,” said founder Jacqueline LaRocque. “I’m incredibly proud of what Compass Rose and our roster of clients have accomplished in just three years, and am excited that we will continue to provide principled, experienced and committed counsel to our partners.”
Mayor Watson highlighted the important role of small businesses in our community. “Small businesses play a crucial role in the growth of our city’s strong and robust economy,” he said. “Congratulations to Compass Rose for their recent expansion and rebrand, and for their important contributions to Ottawa’s small business community.”
In addition to its strong enterprise client base, Compass Rose now offers specially-focused services to help small and medium-sized businesses grow, including identifying and accessing crucial government expansion and export programs. Compass Rose engages with government to positively shape the business and public policy environment with an eye to the unique needs of the small business community.
Compass Rose also announced four strategic additions to its team. Ken Polk has almost 30 years of communications experience as a senior political aide having served under the Right Honourable Jean Chrétien and as a senior official with Health Canada. He specializes in regulatory affairs, strategy, crisis and issues management, and speechwriting.
Kathleen Walsh’s decade of experience in policy, non-profits, and operations adds significant new science policy depth. Most recently, as policy director for Evidence for Democracy, she trained scientists and researchers in the skills needed to engage in the policy process. Walsh is also a World Economic Forum Global Shaper.
With a view to further servicing small businesses and not-for-profits, Compass Rose has grown its in-house capacity in design, strategic partnership building, branding and communications with the arrival of Sara Hubberstey and Valerie Boucher.
In honour of the guests attending the launch, Compass Rose has made donations to Defeat Depression, the Shoe Box project, Qaggiavuut, ambiSHEous, Ottawa Bicycle Club (Junior Racing Team) and the Canadian Nurses Foundation.
