Compass Rose experts available to comment on Budget 2024

Experts from Compass Rose will be available to comment on the 2024 federal budget following the release today.

Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland’s budget on Tuesday may easily be the current government's most challenging and political.

Since Freeland last updated Canadians on the nation’s finances in the Federal Economic Statement, the economic outlook has changed. Yet, Canadians are still feeling the pinch of the rising cost of living.

We have seen a new style of communications for the federal government, with the first budget roll-out in a campaign style that focused heavily on housing supply and affordability.

But spending demands remain heightened – including commitments to keep the NDP supporting the minority government, as well as working together for major announcements in housing and health care.

Compass Rose brings together professionals with extensive experience in budget building, as well as a depth of knowledge on economic, fiscal and industrial policy.

The following experts will be available to comment immediately following its release.

  • Marci Surkes, Strategic Advisor
    Budget process, Liberal viewpoint

  • Andrea Sarkic, Lead Public Affairs Counsellor
Supply chain (transport), energy diversification/natural resources, environment, technology, Conservative viewpoint

  • Graham Milner, Lead Public Affairs Counsellor
Environment, agriculture, creative industries, health sciences, parliamentary affairs, Liberal viewpoint
