Shirlee Engel joins Compass Rose, a growing public affairs agency in Canada’s capital

New senior leader with deep experience in political and strategic communications will help clients navigate an evolving public affairs landscape and find the common good.

OTTAWA— Compass Rose Founder and Principal Jacqueline LaRocque is pleased to announce the addition of former Global News national affairs correspondent Shirlee Engel to the agency. Engel is a well-known strategic communicator with extensive experience in public policy.

A senior leader who spent over a decade telling important stories for television news, Engel covered domestic and international politics, public policy and the economy. Her work was closely watched on Parliament Hill and led to changes in federal policy.

Engel’s expertise includes media planning and engagement, crisis communications and creating multi-platform media strategies. Most recently, she led media relations for the Canadian affiliate of a global organization.

“Shirlee brings a passion for building relationships and helping great organizations and businesses get the public policy traction and attention they deserve,” says LaRocque. “Her addition underscores our commitment to bringing together the breadth of experience and insight to give our accomplished clients principled, experienced and committed counsel.”

“Jacquie has built an impressive firm known for its unique approach to ensuring clients have their voices heard in the corridors of power and on the street,” says Engel. “I’m thrilled to join this dynamic team and look forward to helping a wide range of clients take their rightful place in the national conversation.”
